Voter Registration for Current Residents
Residents of Strafford may register to vote at the Town Clerk's Office during regular business hours up until 10 days before any election. (The 10 day black-out period allows the Supervisors of the Checklist time to update the Town Checklist for elections).
Residents may also register to vote on any Election Day at the polling place. When entering the polling place, please proceed directly to the Supervisors of the Checklist Office. Go to the second door on the right as you enter the side door of the Town Hall.
Residents may also register to vote at Supervisor of the Checklist sessions. Please watch the "Community Calendar" for dates that the Supervisors are sitting.
Residents who are 17 years old may register to vote if they will be 18 on the day of the next election following registration.
To register to vote, you must show proof of residency and a valid ID. If you have never before registered to vote in NH, please supply your Birth Certificate or Passport along with your valid ID.
If you are a Naturalized Citizen, please supply your Naturalization paperwork.
Voter Registration for NEW Residents
New residents of Strafford should follow the instructions stated above, and also must supply proof of Strafford residency. To show proof of residency, please supply mail that has been mailed to you at the address you live at in Strafford (utility, cable or insurance bill) or your NH ID if your current Strafford address is printed on the front.
Voter Registration for Coe-Brown Students
Coe-Brown Students may register to vote if they will be at least 18 on the day of the next election following registration. See the Community Calendar for the election schedule, or call the Town Clerk’s Office.
To register to vote for their senior portfolio, students should come to the Town Clerk's Office during regular business hours, or, they may register to vote at the polling place on Election Day. They should see the Town Clerk to have their Coe-Brown portfolio form signed.
Coe-Brown students registering to vote for the 1st time should bring their Birth Certificate or Passport, along with their picture ID.
Change of Party
Party affiliation (Democratic, Republican, Undeclared) may be changed at specific times throughout the year. Please read the Community Calendar for specified dates.
Please note: No person who has previously registered to vote may change their party affiliation between the first Wednesday in June and the day before the State Primary.
Persons moving from one NH jurisdiction to another may change their party when they register to vote in the new town.
